On July 17, 2020, Brandon Rollins, Keven Springfield, and Damion Tillman met near Lake Streety Road in Frostproof, Florida, for a night of fishing. The three were close friends who had grown up in the same small Polk County community. What should have been an ordinary Friday evening ended with all three losing their lives.
Three Friends and a Call for Help
Later that evening, Brandon called his father, Cyril Rollins, and pleaded for help. Cyril rushed to the fishing spot, where he found Brandon, Keven, and Damion had been shot. The call brought a father to his son’s side, but it also marked the beginning of a homicide investigation that would leave three families waiting years for answers in court.
In this episode, we remember the friends and the lives they had built in Frostproof. We also follow the first hours of the investigation as detectives began working backward from the scene to establish where the men had been and who had encountered them that night.
A Receipt and Dollar General Surveillance
One of the first clues was a receipt found at the scene. It led investigators to a Dollar General, where surveillance footage showed Damion shopping shortly before the murders. Tony “TJ” Wiggins was in the store at the same time, and investigators learned that the fishing plans had been discussed there.
Detectives examined the footage alongside witness statements and tips from the community. The investigation brought attention to a dispute involving a truck engine, inconsistent accounts of the evening, and physical evidence linking the shootings to TJ. We follow how those details helped investigators reconstruct the events between the store visit and the killings.
Six Years Waiting for a Trial
For the victims’ families, arrests did not mean the case would be resolved quickly. Separate federal firearms proceedings and repeated delays kept the murder prosecution from reaching trial for years. Cyril publicly questioned why the families were still waiting, while Brandon’s truck remained in law enforcement custody as evidence.
The case finally went to trial in 2026. On September 29, a jury convicted TJ of three counts of first degree murder. On October 9, he was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole. We follow the court proceedings and what the long wait meant for the people who loved Brandon, Keven, and Damion.
