Andrew Gosden: What Happened After He Took a One-Way Train to London?
Andrew Gosden was 14 years old when he disappeared on September 14, 2007. He left his home in Doncaster, England, dressed for school, then returned after his family had gone to work. Andrew changed into casual clothes, withdrew £200 from his bank account, and bought a one-way ticket to London.
The Day Andrew Gosden Disappeared
Andrew boarded a direct train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. He arrived at 11:20 that morning and was captured on CCTV leaving the station alone at 11:25. He did not take his passport, his PSP charger, or the cash he had saved at home. He also did not contact his family after arriving in London.
The Last Confirmed Sighting at King’s Cross
The image of Andrew leaving King’s Cross remains the last confirmed record of him. Police received possible sightings across London and other parts of Britain, but none could be verified. A delay in identifying the station footage meant that potentially important CCTV from nearby streets, businesses, and transport routes had already been overwritten.
What Happened to Andrew Gosden?
No one knows why Andrew went to London that day. His family and investigators have considered many possibilities, including a spontaneous day away, a planned meeting, an event in London, accidental death, or the possibility that he left with help from another person. None has been proven.
In 2021, two men were arrested in connection with the investigation. They were released without charge in 2023 after police determined that neither man played a role in Andrew’s disappearance. The case remains open, and South Yorkshire Police continue to appeal for information.
We cover Andrew’s life, the timeline of his disappearance, the early investigative failures, and why his family continues searching for an answer.
