[Florida Files] Steven Cozzi: The Murder Trial of Surgeon Tomasz Kosowski

In March 2023, Steven Cozzi arrived at the Largo law office where he worked and never returned home. Steven was 41 years old and worked at Blanchard Law. His wallet, keys, phone, and vehicle were still at the office, and investigators found blood in a bathroom inside the building. Steven's body has never been found.

The Legal Dispute

At the time Steven disappeared, former plastic surgeon Tomasz Kosowski was involved in a contentious civil lawsuit against people and businesses he had worked with. Steven represented some of the defendants in that case. Prosecutors allege Tomasz became increasingly angry with the litigation and had confronted Steven at the law office before Steven disappeared.

The Case Against Tomasz Kosowski

Tomasz Kosowski is charged with first degree murder. Prosecutors allege that he killed Steven inside the law office, then removed his body using a wagon before driving away in an unregistered truck. They point to surveillance footage, digital records, DNA evidence, and items recovered after Tomasz was arrested.

Steven's body has not been recovered. Investigators believe it was disposed of in a dumpster, which was later taken to a landfill in Collier County. Tomasz has pleaded not guilty. He is representing himself in a bench trial, which means a judge, rather than a jury, will decide the case.
